Gordon Memorial Hospital District is proud to announce Taylor Gieselman as the recipient of the Amy Rath Memorial Scholarship. Taylor, a graduate of Gordon-Rushville High School, has been awarded $2,500 to support her education as she begins her journey toward a career in diagnostic medical imaging.
Taylor will attend Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she will enroll in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Through this program, she will learn how to use ultrasound technology to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and monitoring patient conditions.
A Passion for Healthcare
Taylor has always had an interest in healthcare, which led her to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Gordon Countryside Care. Her time at GCC provided valuable hands-on opportunities in patient care and helped her further explore the path she wanted to take within healthcare.
While she enjoyed caring for others, Taylor realized nursing was not the career path she wanted to pursue. Instead, she discovered an interest in diagnostic medical sonography and the opportunity to continue learning more about the human body, healthcare, and patient care.
“I am most excited to learn information that goes beyond the surface level,” Taylor said.
Dedicated to Learning and Serving Others
Throughout high school, Taylor demonstrated a strong commitment to academics, leadership, and community involvement. She earned A/B Honor Roll recognition, was a member of the National Honor Society, obtained her CNA license, and participated in FFA, cheerleading, and Medical Explorers.
After completing her degree, Taylor plans to return to rural Nebraska and build her career serving communities like the one that helped shape her.
When asked how living in Sheridan County has influenced her educational and career goals, Taylor shared:
“Witnessing such a tight-knit community has inspired me to come back to rural Nebraska and give back to a community in need, the same way my community has put so much into me.”
Honoring Amy Rath’s Legacy
The Amy Rath Memorial Scholarship was established to honor Amy Rath’s dedication to healthcare and her commitment to Gordon Memorial Hospital District and the Sheridan County community. Amy worked in the radiology department, where she was known for her compassion, professionalism, and commitment to providing quality care to patients.
The one-time $2,500 scholarship provides financial support to a Sheridan County resident pursuing education in medical imaging. Funds may be used for tuition, books, and other qualified educational expenses.
For Taylor, receiving this scholarship will help her focus on her education and future career goals.
“It’s really going to help so that I’m not going to have to work full-time hours while I’m trying to do my best in school,” Taylor said.
Gordon Memorial Hospital District congratulates Taylor on this achievement and wishes her continued success as she pursues her education in medical imaging. We look forward to seeing the impact she will make in healthcare and the communities she serves.
