Gordon Memorial Hospital District is pleased to welcome Uzoamaka (Amaka) Agnes Akporotu, DNP, FNP-C, RN, BSN, MIH, to the team. Amaka will be providing patient care as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Gordon Clinic, bringing extensive experience providing high-quality, patient-centered care across a wide range of healthcare settings.
About Amaka
Amaka is a Doctor of Nursing Practice–prepared Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 25 years of nursing experience in both the United States and internationally. Her background includes work in infectious disease, dialysis, medical-surgical nursing, long-term acute care, and emergency response settings. She is passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with both acute and chronic health needs.
She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University and a Master’s in International Health from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute at the University of Basel in Switzerland. Her education and experience reflect a strong commitment to global health, patient education, and clinical excellence.
Throughout her career, Amaka has cared for patients in a wide variety of settings, including dialysis care, hospital units, community health programs, and infectious disease treatment programs. She brings a calm, skilled, and compassionate approach to patient care, with a strong focus on meeting patients where they are and supporting their individual health needs.
In addition to her clinical experience, Amaka has worked extensively in health education, community-based care, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. She is committed to improving patient outcomes through education, collaboration, and culturally responsive care.
Scheduling
Amaka is currently completing orientation and onboarding and will begin seeing patients once her clinic schedule is finalized. More information about appointment availability will be shared on our website and Facebook page as it becomes available.
