Amaka Akporotu, DNP, FNP-C, joined Gordon Memorial Hospital District in June 2026 as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Gordon Clinic.
She brings more than 25 years of nursing experience across inpatient dialysis, infectious disease, medical-surgical care, long-term acute care, and public health nursing. Most recently, she practiced in Fargo, North Dakota in hospital-based inpatient dialysis and acute care settings.
Amaka earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner degree from North Dakota State University. She also holds a Master of Advanced Studies in International Health from the University of Basel in Switzerland and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University.
She provides care with a strong focus on prevention, chronic disease management, nutrition, and patient education. Her approach emphasizes listening carefully, understanding each patient’s needs, and working together to develop realistic plans for better health. Amaka is committed to helping patients feel comfortable, respected, and supported during their care.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family.
